Welcome to Toyama Museum Association’s new website.
Toyama Museum Association was organized in 1966 with the purpose of facilitating communication and cooperation between museums in Toyama Prefecture and striving for the spread and development of museum programs. To accomplish this purpose, the association conducts various activities including holding seminars, publishing bulletins and museum guidebooks, and managing this website. Membership has grown from eight at its launch to 73 as of 2012, comprising not only major museums and art museums but also public and private facilities of varying scales and types. The association’s website opened in December 1996 and has since supported the dissemination of information by member museums. This new website replaced it in March 2013 with a subsidy under the Agency of Cultural Affairs’ project for tourism promotion and local revitalization through the use of cultural heritage. To meet the diverse needs of information-oriented society, it is designed with a cloud computing function to enable remote entry of information, bilingual screen display to reach an international audience, and compatibility with personal computers, smartphones, and tablet computers. (The English-language contents of the website are based on data available as of March 2013.) By allowing member museums to update entries on their own, the website supports an even quicker dissemination of information.
