History and Outline

Takaoka City Art Museum, which opened in 1951, was moved and rebuilt in September 1994 as Takaoka Art Museum. This museum’s aims are as followings;
A museum of the planning and management style with extensive art activities
A museum with a special character which makes good use of traditional arts and crafts
An open museum for the citizens
This museum is on the basis of the tradition of the former museum.

Collection and Exhibition

Collects and preserves various art and craft works such as metalworking, lacquer work, drawing and sculpture by local artists and artists who had effects on art based on the tradition of Takaoka City.

Walk 20 minutes from JR Takaoka Station on the JR Hokuriku Line, or take the Kaetsuno bus for Toyama from JR Takaoka Station, get off at Nakagawa bus stop and walk 2 minutes.
Change to JR Himi Line at JR Takaoka Station on the JR Hokuriku Line, get off at JR Etchu-Nakagawa Station, and walk 2 minutes.
15 minutes by car from Noetsu Expressway Takaoka I.C. or 10 minutes from Takaoka-kita I.C.
20 minutes by car from Hokuriku Expressway Kosugi I.C. or 30 minutes from Tonami I.C.
Highlight
This museum features local arts and crafts from Meiji era to the present time around a core of Takaoka bronze utensils and various planning exhibitions.
