History and Outline

Opened in June 1998. This museum aims to spread and introduce the meaning of the Tateyama Sabo (control of soil erosion) work that has been carried out for almost 100 years in the Tateyama Caldera area, and to protect the majestic nature of Tateyama calderas (an unknown Tateyama) and the Toyama plains from the soil disasters.

Hands-on learning with truck and bus to the Tateyama Caldera area twice a week from July to October

Collection and Exhibition

Introduces the workings of Mother nature in the Tateyama Caldera, the efforts of the people and the profound wisdom of soil-erosion control not just within the inside museum, but also outdoor activities.

Monday (open when it falls on a national holiday), the day after a national holiday (open when it falls on Saturday or Sunday), from December 28 to January 6, Thursday (only in January and February), Golden Week, open during the summer. Special opening and closing days are listed on the website.
