Takaoka Municipal Museum
History and Outline
Opened in June 1970. Takaoka Municipal Museum was constructed in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Takaoka City’s incorporation and the 360th anniversary of the start of the town. As a local museum, this museum collects, preserves and displays materials and documents concerned with local history, folk and industry for investigation and research, and provides spread education activities intended to promote the development of the region as a social education facility.

Collects designs and tools for metalworking and lacquer work, which are traditional industry of Takaoka, around a core of materials and documents concerned with history, life and culture of Takaoka from the start of Takaoka town in the early Edo period to the present. This museum responds to the citizens’ needs at anytime and opens planning and special exhibitions.
