Shogawa Memorial Museum of Sotojiro Matsumura

History and Outline

Opened in November 1989. This museum exhibits precious works from Matsumura Sotojiro, a famous sculptor from Shogawa Town that he presented. In the planning exhibition room, holds planning exhibitions several times a year. This is a town municipal museum to contribute the development of local art and culture.

Collection and Exhibition

Exhibits works of stone carving, woodcarving and bronze by Matsumura Sotojiro, a sculptor from “A Parisienne” works from the early Showa era to “Sujaku” which is a monumental work of his later years.
Also houses works of Nakamura Naoto, Kumagai Norikazu and Miyamoto Saburo who are friends of Mr. Matsumura and works of other artists connected with Shogawa Town.

Take Kaetsuno bus for Shogawa-machi from JR Takaoka Station and get off at Shogawa-shisho-mae bus stop and walk 15 minutes.
15 minutes by car from Hokuriku Expressway Tonami I.C.
Highlight
This museum is located in the Shogawa Water Memorial Park near the Shogawa-Gokuchi dam and you can enjoy take a walk.
